As of October 2026, a small business website builder that lets you sell or take bookings on your own domain costs from $3.99 a month (Hostinger, paid upfront for 48 months) to $29 a month billed yearly (Wix Core or Shopify Basic). The sticker price is only part of the bill: the prepay term, the renewal price and transaction fees decide what you really pay.
Below are the 7 builders a small business would realistically shortlist, each with the cheapest plan that includes a custom domain plus selling or booking, as the vendor lists it today. If you would rather run WordPress on your own hosting, our Web Hosting Price Index tracks intro and renewal prices for 22 plans from 20 hosts.

What each builder is best at
- Hostinger Website Builder: lowest cost if you can prepay. On the builder plans page, Unlimited is the first plan that lists ecommerce, and it adds unlimited websites and unlimited mailboxes (free for 1 year). Hostinger gives a second answer elsewhere: its main pricing page shows “Ecommerce available” on Premium, and the builder page offers a Hostinger Ecommerce add-on ($1 for 3 months, then $8.99 a month), so check what your cart includes before you settle for Premium. The low rate needs a 48-month prepay. Hostinger offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Its builder page advertises a 14-day free trial, but its help center says the trial lasts 7 days and you cannot publish a site during it. Our Hostinger AI Website Builder review covers the editor itself.
- Wix: the most built-in business tools. Core includes online payments, a basic store and scheduling, so a salon or consultant gets bookings without an add-on. Wix has a free plan to build on and a 14-day money-back guarantee once you pay.
- Squarespace: design-led sites that sell a little. Basic can sell products, services and digital goods, with a 2% transaction fee. Appointment booking runs through Acuity Scheduling, which Squarespace sells as its own plan. Squarespace is free to try for 14 days.
- GoDaddy Website Builder: quick setup with marketing built in. GoDaddy’s own guide describes Commerce as including online appointment booking, social media scheduling and marketplace selling.
- Shopify: stores first. Basic includes a full online store, unlimited products and 10 inventory locations. Shopify starts with a 3-day free trial, then most plans cost $1 a month for the first 3 months.
- WordPress.com: content first. Premium adds payment buttons for PayPal and Stripe, which suits a writer or consultant who takes the occasional payment or deposit. A full WooCommerce store needs the Commerce plan.
- 10Web: an AI-built WordPress site. 10Web generates the site with AI, hosts it, and lists a full WordPress CMS and an ecommerce dashboard on AI Starter. The 30-day money-back guarantee applies until you claim the free domain. Our 10Web AI Builder review goes deeper.
How to choose
If you take bookings
Wix Core is the simplest: scheduling is part of the plan. Hostinger handles appointments as a product type in its store, which needs a plan with ecommerce, so Unlimited or higher on the builder plans page. GoDaddy lists appointment booking on Commerce. Squarespace needs a separate Acuity Scheduling plan on top of the website plan, so price both.
If you sell products
Shopify is built around inventory, checkout and point of sale. Hostinger allows up to 1,000 products and takes no sales commission. On Squarespace, Basic charges 2% per online sale and Core costs $10 a month more on annual billing, so Core becomes cheaper once you sell more than about $500 a month online. If WooCommerce is the goal, see our guide to WooCommerce hosting for small stores.
If you blog or want SEO control
Every builder here includes a blog. The real difference is how much technical SEO you control, such as redirects, canonical tags and robots.txt. WordPress gives the most room, especially when you host it yourself. Our guide to AI website builders vs WordPress walks through that trade-off.
Cost after year one
Intro offers and free domains end. Here is what the entry selling plan costs up front, and what each vendor says changes later.
| Builder and plan | First payment | What changes later |
|---|---|---|
| Hostinger Unlimited | $191.52 for 48 months | Renews at $16.99/mo |
| Wix Core | $348 for 12 months | Free domain voucher covers year 1; a .com then renews at $13.35/yr |
| Squarespace Basic | $228 for 12 months | Free domain for year 1, then the standard rate |
| GoDaddy Commerce | $251.88 for 12 months* | Renewal price not confirmed |
| Shopify Basic | $348 for 12 months | Yearly rate; monthly billing is $39 |
| WordPress.com Premium | $96 for 12 months | Monthly billing is $18 |
| 10Web AI Starter | $120 for 12 months | Regular price shown is $240 a year |
Hostinger looks cheapest over 4 years, but only if you pay 4 years up front, and the monthly rate more than quadruples at renewal. For comparison, running WordPress yourself on Hostinger’s Premium web hosting costs $2.99 a month for 48 months, then $10.99 (our Hostinger review covers those plans). The Web Hosting Price Index shows the same intro-vs-renewal math for 22 plans from 20 hosts, so you can compare a builder subscription with hosting you manage yourself.
Bottom line
- Service business that needs bookings: Wix Core at $29 a month billed yearly, because scheduling is included.
- Tight budget and happy to prepay: Hostinger Unlimited at $3.99 a month for 48 months. Budget for $16.99 a month after that.
- Selling physical products with inventory: Shopify Basic at $29 a month billed yearly.
- Studio or portfolio that sells now and then: Squarespace Basic at $19 a month, moving to Core past about $500 a month in online sales.
- Content-led business: WordPress.com Premium at $8 a month, or 10Web AI Starter if you want AI to build a WordPress site for you.
- Already on GoDaddy for your domain and email: Commerce is worth pricing, but confirm the current price and renewal at checkout.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest website builder for a small business that can take payments?
Hostinger Unlimited, at $3.99 a month, if you prepay 48 months ($191.52). On a 12-month bill, WordPress.com Premium is the lowest at $96 a year, but it offers payment buttons rather than a full store.
Which website builders include appointment booking?
Wix includes scheduling from Core ($29 a month billed yearly). Hostinger supports appointments as a store product type on plans with ecommerce. GoDaddy lists appointment booking on Commerce. Squarespace sells Acuity Scheduling as a separate plan.
Do website builder prices go up after the first term?
Often, yes. Hostinger Unlimited renews at $16.99 a month after the 48-month term, and 10Web shows a regular price of $240 a year against the $120 first-year offer. Free domains are first-year only on Wix, Squarespace and Hostinger.
Is Shopify or Wix better for a small online store?
Both cost $29 a month billed yearly at entry level. Shopify is the better fit when inventory, multiple locations or point of sale matter. Wix is the better fit when the store is one part of a site that also needs bookings, a blog and marketing tools.
