The real cost over 4 years
Both hosts bill the whole term upfront, and both quote their lowest price for their longest term. The first bills are almost identical: $143.52 for 48 months of Hostinger Premium, about $143.64 for 36 months of Bluehost Starter. The difference is what happens next.
- Hostinger, 4 years: $143.52 in total. You do not renew until month 49.
- Bluehost, 4 years: $143.64 for the first 36 months, then year 4. Renewing for 1 year costs $11.99 a month ($143.88), so about $287.52 in total. Renewing for another 36 months keeps $9.99 a month but means paying $359.64 upfront.
- After the first term: Hostinger renews at $10.99 a month ($131.88 a year). Bluehost renews at $9.99 a month on a 3-year term or $11.99 on a 1-year term.
Bluehost’s WordPress hosting page has a term switch: the 3-year term is $3.99 a month renewing at $9.99, the 1-year term is $3.74 renewing at $11.99, and month-to-month is $15.99 (checked October 11, 2026). That makes the 1-year term the cheaper way in, but it renews $2 a month higher. Hostinger’s renewal is 3.7x its intro price and Bluehost’s 3-year renewal is 2.5x, so the long prepay is what makes Hostinger cheap. If you cancel inside the 30 days, both hosts deduct the price of the free domain from your refund.
Sites, storage and resource limits
Bluehost’s entry plan is the roomier one on paper: 10 websites against Hostinger’s 3. Hostinger gives more storage (20 GB against 10 GB, though Bluehost’s is NVMe), and it publishes the server resources behind the plan: 1 CPU core, 2 GB of RAM, 40 PHP workers, 400,000 inodes and unlimited bandwidth on Premium. Bluehost’s plan page gives a traffic guide instead (“Ideal for 40K visits/mo” on Starter) and lists no CPU or RAM figures.
If you plan to run more than 3 sites, Hostinger’s next plan up (Unlimited) removes the cap. If you run one busy WooCommerce store, PHP workers and RAM matter more than the site count; our guide to PHP workers explains why.
Backups, security and email
- Backups: both entry plans include weekly backups. Hostinger sells daily backups for Premium as an add-on (kept for 7 days) and includes daily backups on Unlimited. Bluehost’s page lists weekly backups on Starter and on Business.
- SSL and malware: both include free SSL and malware scanning.
- Email: Hostinger includes 2 mailboxes per website, free for the first year. Bluehost’s Pro Email is a 1-month free trial that renews at $2.50 a month.
WordPress tools
Hostinger runs its shared plans on LiteSpeed servers and manages them through hPanel, which includes SSH, WP-CLI, PHP version control, Git, a MySQL manager and a one-click WordPress installer. Website migrations are free and unlimited. AI tools, CDN and priority support start on the Unlimited plan, not Premium.
Bluehost‘s Starter card lists managed WordPress updates, a free site migration tool, the Yoast SEO plugin, SSH and WP-CLI, a WordPress staging site, a free CDN and AI site creation tools. Both hosts cover the basics a WordPress site needs; Bluehost lists more on its entry card, and Hostinger gives more resources.
The next plan up
| Hostinger Unlimited | Bluehost Business | |
|---|---|---|
| Intro price | $3.99/mo (48 months, $191.52 upfront) | $6.99/mo (36 months) |
| Renews at | $16.99/mo | $13.99/mo |
| Websites | Unlimited | 50 |
| Storage | 50 GB NVMe | 50 GB NVMe SSD |
| Backups | Daily, with easy restore | Weekly |
| Extras | CDN, AI tools, priority 24/7 support | Phone support, free domain privacy for year 1 |
Here Hostinger is cheaper upfront and gives daily backups; Bluehost renews $3 a month lower and adds phone support. Hostinger lists 3 GB of RAM and 60 PHP workers for Unlimited; Bluehost rates Business as “Ideal for 200K visits/mo”.
How they compare with other hosts
Both are mid-pack on renewal jumps in our price index: Bluehost renews at 2.5x and Hostinger at 3.7x, against 6x for SiteGround and 7x for hosting.com. GoDaddy’s jump is smaller (2x) but its intro price is higher; see our Hostinger vs GoDaddy comparison. For a full look at Hostinger’s plans, read our Hostinger review.
Bottom line
- You will commit for 4 years and run 1 to 3 sites: Hostinger Premium. It costs about $144 less than Bluehost over 4 years if you renew Bluehost for 1 year after its first term.
- You need 4 to 10 sites on an entry plan: Bluehost Starter, or Hostinger Unlimited if you want daily backups.
- You want phone support: Bluehost Business. Hostinger’s plan pages list live chat, not phone.
- You are already on Bluehost and want out: our guide to leaving Bluehost without downtime covers the move.
- You have outgrown shared hosting: see Hostinger vs Cloudways for the upgrade path.
