As of October 2026, Hostinger VPS hosting starts at $6.49 a month for KVM 1 (1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe storage) when you prepay 24 months, and it renews at $11.99 a month. The four KVM plans cost $6.49 to $25.99 a month on that term, and all of them are self-managed: Hostinger runs the hardware, you run the server.

Below: every plan with its renewal price, backups, the AI assistant, data centers, refund rules, and how it compares with the cloud servers in our Web Hosting Price Index.

KVM 8$25.99/mo$49.99/mo832 GB400 GB32 TB

Every plan includes AMD EPYC processors, a 1 Gbps port, free weekly backups, firewall management, Wanguard DDoS filtering, a dedicated IP, full root access, the public API, the AI web terminal and a free domain for 1 year. Extra cost: daily backups and paid control panel licenses. Prices exclude VAT.

What the intro price really costs

Hostinger bills the whole term upfront. Its VPS terms are 1, 12 and 24 months, longer terms get the bigger discount, and the advertised prices are the 24-month ones. So KVM 1 is about $155.76 on day one and KVM 2 about $215.76. The 1-month and 12-month prices are not printed on the plan page; you see them at checkout.

Each card then reads “Renews at $11.99/mo for 2 years” (or that plan’s renewal price). The jump is milder than on shared hosting: 1.8x for KVM 1 and 1.7x for KVM 2, against 3.7x for Hostinger’s shared Premium plan. Over 4 years (one intro term plus one renewal term), KVM 1 averages about $9.24 a month and KVM 2 about $11.99.

Which plan fits

Hostinger says KVM 2 has enough power for medium-scale apps such as n8n, and that you can start small and upgrade. As a rough guide: KVM 1 for a small site, VPN or bot; KVM 2 for n8n, a Docker stack or several WordPress sites; KVM 4 and 8 for big databases, many client sites or memory-hungry AI agents. Note that KVM VPS upgrades are not refundable, so size for your known load.

Backups and snapshots: what you get

  • Automatic backups run weekly. Daily backups are a paid upgrade; the help article does not publish the price.
  • Hostinger keeps up to 4 backups: the 2 most recent daily and the 2 most recent weekly.
  • Snapshots are manual, 1 at a time, expire after 1 day, and are deleted if you reinstall the OS.
  • Backups cannot be downloaded directly (use SFTP), and a restore overwrites the whole server once started.

Keep your own off-server copy of databases and files. The built-in backups are a safety net, not a backup plan.

Operating systems, control panels and the AI assistant

Templates are 64-bit Linux only: Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Debian, Rocky Linux, CentOS Stream, Fedora Cloud, Alpine, Kali, NixOS, openSUSE and CloudLinux. Ubuntu 24.04 templates add stacks such as WordPress, WooCommerce, n8n, Coolify and Claude Code, and an Ubuntu with Docker template opens Hostinger’s app catalog. Panels include cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, CyberPanel, CloudPanel and HestiaCP; cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin and Webuzo licenses are sold in the dashboard and are not refundable.

The AI assistant is Hostinger Agent, an MCP-powered agent in the dashboard and browser terminal that runs commands, shows CPU, memory and disk use, manages firewall rules and SSH keys, and suggests fixes, at no extra cost. A public API and MCP server let tools like Claude or Cursor manage the server too; our MCP explainer covers the security questions.

Data centers

VPS locations: France, Germany, Lithuania and the UK; India, Indonesia and Malaysia; Phoenix and Boston in the USA; and Brazil. The location is fixed after setup, so moving means backing up and reinstalling elsewhere.

Self-managed: what you are responsible for

Hostinger maintains the physical servers and network. Inside the VPS, everything is yours: OS and security updates, firewall rules, the web server and PHP, app updates, monitoring and real backups. The 24/7 live chat handles account and billing questions; nobody patches the server for you. Our guide to setting up a VPS covers key-only SSH, a ten-minute hardening pass and snapshots.

Do you need a VPS instead of shared hosting?

Shared plans have hard ceilings: Hostinger’s Premium plan gets 1 CPU core, 2 GB of RAM and 40 PHP workers, and Hostinger notes that going over plan limits causes errors such as 503. A VPS suits long-running work such as Node.js apps, n8n, Docker and AI agents. If you only run WordPress sites, stay on shared hosting (see our Hostinger review) or consider the managed Cloud Startup plan: $7.99 a month on a 48-month prepay, renewing at $25.99, with 4 CPU cores and 4 GB of RAM. Our PHP workers guide shows how to spot a shared-hosting limit.

Hostinger VPS vs DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, Hetzner and Cloudways

Cloud providers bill by the hour up to a monthly cap, with no prepay and no renewal jump. The table shows each one’s closest plan to KVM 1’s 4 GB of RAM, plus its entry price from our price index.

CloudwaysManaged DigitalOcean serverFrom $11/moHourly$11/mo (1 GB)
  • Hostinger’s intro price is about a quarter of DigitalOcean’s or Linode’s for the same RAM, and its renewal is about half. The trade: a 24-month prepay and 1 vCPU instead of 2.
  • Hetzner matches the price with no prepay and 2 vCPU, but that rate is for Germany and Finland, it rose on June 15, 2026, and Hetzner’s page showed the CX line as not available when checked.
  • DigitalOcean, Vultr and Linode win for short-lived servers, many small instances, or managed databases next to the VPS.
  • Cloudways manages the server stack for you and costs more per GB of RAM; see Hostinger vs Cloudways.

Bottom line

  • Cheap, always-on server for a year or two: Hostinger KVM 2 for n8n, Docker and several sites; KVM 1 for small workloads.
  • Servers by the hour, no prepay: DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode or Hetzner.
  • Server power without the sysadmin work: Cloudways or Hostinger’s managed cloud plans.
  • A few WordPress sites and nothing else: shared hosting is enough; read our Hostinger review.

Frequently asked questions

Is Hostinger VPS managed or unmanaged?

Unmanaged. Hostinger calls it self-managed: it maintains the hardware and network, and you manage the operating system, software, security updates and backups. Hostinger Agent and the 24/7 chat help, but they do not maintain the server for you.

Can I pay for Hostinger VPS monthly?

Yes. Hostinger offers 1-month, 12-month and 24-month terms, but only the 24-month prices appear on the plan page. Shorter terms cost more per month; checkout shows the exact price.

Does Hostinger VPS include backups?

Weekly automatic backups are included, and the 2 most recent are kept. Daily backups cost extra. You can also keep 1 manual snapshot, which expires after 1 day.

Can I get a refund on a Hostinger VPS?

New purchases and renewals of KVM VPS plans can be refunded within 30 days unless you paid in cryptocurrency. Upgrades and control panel licenses are not refundable, the standard price of a free domain may be deducted, and after a VPS refund you must wait 180 days before another.
