As of October 2026, Hostinger web hosting starts at $2.99 a month on the Premium plan, but only when you prepay 48 months ($143.52 up front), and it renews at $10.99 a month. Our verdict: good value for small sites and beginners, as long as you accept clear limits on backups, background work and server email.
This review covers Hostinger‘s shared and WordPress hosting, which use the same 3 plans. The AI website builder has its own review. To see how Hostinger’s renewal jump compares with 21 other plans, check our Web Hosting Price Index.

Hostinger prices: intro vs renewal
Hostinger’s plans are paid up front, and the headline prices need a 48-month term, so $2.99 a month means paying $143.52 on day one. When that term ends, Premium renews at $10.99 a month, 3.7 times the intro rate. Unlimited goes from $3.99 to $16.99 (4.3 times) and Cloud Startup from $7.99 to $25.99 (3.3 times).
In plain numbers, Premium costs $143.52 for the first 4 years, then $131.88 a year at the renewal rate. Hostinger says you can also pay monthly or on shorter terms, but its plan pages do not show those prices, so check them in the cart before you commit. The free domain covers the first year only, on terms of 12 months or longer.

Every plan is managed through hPanel, Hostinger’s control panel, which includes SSH, WP-CLI, PHP version control, Git, a MySQL manager and a 1-click WordPress installer, plus malware scanning. Hostinger runs its plans on LiteSpeed servers. PHP workers decide how many uncached requests run at once; our PHP workers guide explains how many a site needs.
Running WordPress on Hostinger: what we know first-hand
HOW TO // AI, our sister site, runs on Hostinger shared hosting. As of October 2026, that setup shows:
- The server runs LiteSpeed with the LiteSpeed Cache plugin, and cached pages load from the cache.
- SSH access by key works on the plan, and WP-CLI is installed, so WordPress can be managed from the command line.
- PHP 8.2 is available and selectable.
- Some PHP functions that shell out, such as exec and shell_exec, are disabled. A few command-line tools that rely on them, such as
wp db export, do not work; a direct database dump works instead. - Shared plans enforce a process limit. On October 1, 2026, too many background processes ran at once, and uncached pages returned 503 errors for several minutes while cached pages kept loading.
The lesson: on shared hosting, keep heavy scripts and cron jobs light, and move to a VPS or cloud plan when you need sustained background work. Hostinger’s own limits article makes the same point: staying under your plan’s limits prevents errors such as 503.
The limits that matter
- Fair use. “Unlimited” websites, mailboxes and bandwidth are subject to Hostinger’s Fair Usage Policy.
- Files. Premium allows 400,000 inodes (files and folders). Large media libraries and cache folders count toward it.
- Server email. Mail sent by scripts such as PHP mail() is capped at 10 messages a minute and 100 a day on every web and cloud plan. Send store receipts and form notifications through an SMTP service.
- Databases. Each database tops out at 3 GB on Premium and Unlimited, and 6 GB on Cloud Startup.
- Script time. PHP scripts can run for up to 360 seconds on web plans and 480 seconds on cloud plans.
Backups by plan
| Plan | Automatic backups | How long they are kept |
|---|---|---|
| Premium | Weekly; daily backups are a paid add-on | Weekly: 6 weeks. Daily add-on: 7 days |
| Unlimited | Weekly and daily | Weekly: 6 weeks. Daily: 7 days |
| Cloud Startup | Weekly, daily and on demand | Weekly: 6 weeks. Daily: 7 days |
On HOW TO // AI’s plan, hPanel also offers a manual backup (one per 24 hours) alongside the automatic backups, under Files, then Backups. Files download as a .tar.gz archive and databases as .sql.gz, and backups do not count against your disk quota. Keep your own off-site copy as well, especially on Premium, where the latest automatic backup can be up to a week old.
Support and refunds
Every plan gets 24/7 support by live chat in multiple languages; Unlimited and Cloud Startup add priority support. The 30-day money-back guarantee is real but has fine print. Hosting is refundable if you cancel within 30 days of the transaction, and a renewal counts as a new transaction, so an unwanted renewal is refundable within 30 days too. The free domain is not refundable, and Hostinger may deduct its price from your refund. Domain renewals and privacy protection are not refundable.
Hostinger vs SiteGround, DreamHost and Cloudways
Entry plans, read from each host’s own pricing page. Each host is shown on its default term. DreamHost’s lowest rate, $1.99 a month, needs a 48-month term and renews at $7.99; that is the DreamHost row in our Web Hosting Price Index, which tracks 22 plans from 20 hosts the same way.
| Host | Entry plan | Intro price | Prepay needed | Renews at | Websites |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hostinger | Premium | $2.99/mo | 48 months | $10.99/mo | 3 |
| SiteGround | StartUp | $2.99/mo | 12 months | $17.99/mo | 1 |
| DreamHost | Web Hosting Launch | $2.89/mo | 12 months | $10.99/mo | 25 |
| Cloudways | Flexible on DigitalOcean | From $11/mo | None (billed hourly) | Same price | Unlimited |
Hostinger renews well below SiteGround, but its intro price needs the longest prepay of the 4. Cloudways costs more on day one with no prepay or renewal jump. If you are outgrowing shared hosting, our Hostinger vs Cloudways guide covers when to move.
Who Hostinger fits, and who should skip it
Good fit: beginners, blogs, portfolios and small business sites; developers on a budget who want SSH and WP-CLI; small agencies running a handful of low-traffic client sites on Unlimited. Hostinger also sells Agency plans from $29 a month on a 24-month term ($49 at renewal) for up to 100 sites.
Skip it if your site runs heavy imports, queues or long cron jobs; your store sends lots of email through PHP mail(); you will not prepay 4 years for the advertised price; or you need daily backups on the cheapest plan without paying extra. For stores, see our WooCommerce hosting picks.
Bottom line
- New site or blog: Hostinger Premium, if you can prepay 48 months. Budget $10.99 a month after.
- Several sites or a small store: Unlimited, for $1 a month more at intro prices, adds daily backups, a CDN and priority support.
- Sustained background work: Cloud Startup, a VPS, or a managed cloud host such as Cloudways.
